Tax form coming soon for Pennsylvania residents who applied for unemployment benefits in 2021
Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Secretary Jennifer Berrier sent a reminder on Jan. 14 to all Pennsylvania residents who applied for unemployment benefits in 2021 to monitor their mailboxes and system notifications. unemployment for Form 1099.
Form 1099 will allow these residents to properly file their 2021 taxes.
“With the arrival of a new year in the midst of an ongoing pandemic, many people may have filed for unemployment benefits for the first time in 2021 and may be unaware of how important that 1099 form is. important when filing federal income tax. We urge all Pennsylvanians who received UC benefits in 2021 to keep a close eye on their mailboxes and/or UC system dashboard for this critical form to arrive. If it is discarded in error and needs to be reproduced by the Unemployment Compensation Service Center, it will likely cause delays in filing claimants’ tax returns,” said Jennifer Berrier, Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry.
Applicants for all unemployment programs offered in 2021 will receive a 1099 tax form that includes details of their benefit payments.
This form will be available online and can be viewed in the same system where claimants file their weekly claims.
If an applicant requires a physical hard copy, physical 1099 tax forms will be mailed out no later than January 31, 2022.

Applicants have the option of viewing the tax form for previous years, if available.
